Lots of aspiring artists pinch pennies, live on Raman and bologna or even get loans from their family and release a CD. Many times that’s the end of it. Sure they may play lots of venues over the next two years or so but many times one CD is all we ever get from aspiring artists. Not so with Cole Taylor. Just days away from releasing his second CD in three years, Twenty year old Cole continues to push forward with his musical career.

Cole has been playing music since he was 12 years old, and took the stage with acts like Percy Sledge, Shenandoah, Sammy Kershaw, and Brantley Gilbert by the time he was just 16. He followed up with the release of his first cd “That’ll Always Be Home To Me” at the age of 17. Sounds like a recipe for future success doesn’t it? It’s still not enough for this conservative young man to make a career decision based on.

Cole has not just dreams, but detailed plans, that include his move to Nashville, but not before he finishes his accounting degree at Valdosta State. Realizing that so many regionally successful musicians move to Nashville every day, only to have their dreams crushed, this pragmatic young songwriter is determined to have a backup plan in place before he risks everything he has to pursue his dream.

I had the opportunity to sit down and talk with Cole during a break at one of his recent shows. When asked why he enjoyed playing and writing music Cole told me “I do it for the love of my fans and to portray my life in song”. I left that evening with a copy of his cd and gave it a good listen over the next few days. There is no mistake that the songs he wrote were the songs of a young man and his life in a small Georgia town. These were songs that reflected High School life, young love and the simple pleasures of growing up in a rural area. Experiences that many of us will always look back and remember.

I’m looking forward to hearing his second release and comparing how not only how he has matured musically but spritually and emotionally as well. This performer has seen many things in the last three years and I’m guessing we hear about many of them in his next release entitled “Cab of My Chevy”

Look for a sneak peek coming soon!

COLE TAYLOR – “That’ll Be Always Home To Me”

Valdosta’s Cole Taylor is one of the rising stars in Georgia country music as he is getting regularly booked all over South Georgia, from Albany to Macon. And there is a reason he’s gaining popularity, it’s his music. His current cd, “That’ll Be Always Be Home To Me” is where it starts. Cole sings to the common guy (and girl) in any southern town like Valdosta. Opening track, “Wakin’ Up The Sun” describes the fun and joy of everyday life, enjoying life to the fullest, even if all night long. “She Still Loves A Honky Tonk” is about that girl that out partying with the guys, even thought she could be straight laced and professional during the week, church goer on Sunday but partying on Saturday night. Cole slows it down with “Do You Ever Think Of Me”, reminisces about a lost love of yesterday. ‘Better Than Words Can Say” turns it back up a little about meeting the right one out one night, about how every guy wants to tell how much a girl how much they mean to but cant find the words, he’d rather show the girl. “She’s Just Right” may be a sequel to the previous cut, about that girl that just fits the guy “just right”. Cole reaches back to some old school country with “Drinkin’ Songs’, looking back at all those bar hugging songs that everyone needs now and then. The title track picks it up again, a look back at his roots and where he’s from. No matter what he finds on the road and big cities, he never looses touch of “home” and all the great things that come with it. “Did You Light Up The Sky” slows it back down, a great romantic song that any guy would love to sing to his girl. Another look back comes with “We Can Go Back” about all the great things that southern life allows him, with fun times and love. He closes out the cd with “I’ll See You Again”, another love song, longing for a love one. Cole well describes southern life, living and love in his music and that again, is why he’s building that connection with his audience and fans. The cd has a great mix of slow and upbeat song that is a perfect cd for a spring or summer day, with the windows down and the music up loud.
